Many people think that radiant heated flooring is too expensive. Theses people are right in assuming that radiant flooring can be expensive. But it doesn’t have to be! When homeowners think about getting heated flooring, they think their whole house needs to be outfitted with the flooring. This seems logical. Why would you just warm a small portion of your home but not the rest? Well if you already have an existing furnace, radiant flooring might be a great complement to the heated flooring! First I recommend that you don’t use radiant flooring all over your home because the HVAC professionals will have to redo all your floors and that will get expensive fast. If you limit yourself and only install radiant flooring in the areas where you are resting the most you will get the most out of your money. There is no point in installing radiant flooring in your living room when most of the time you will be sitting or even laying down on the couch. Also most of the time your feet don’t even touch the floors. In the kitchen and bathroom, you will almost certainly be standing. Whether you’re cooking a meal or getting ready for bed, if you have radiant floors in your bedroom and bathrooms, you will never need to worry about the temperature of your feet again. Another reason radiant flooring is perfect for the living room and bathrooms is that it also works best on wood and tile floors. So if your bedroom has carpeting, that’s another reason to not get radiant flooring in that room.
