I appreciate residing on my own, truly. As a teenager I just hated all the rules my parents had throughout the home on what I could or could not do. They were so strict about everything, however the very worst rules had to do with the heating & A/C. All of us had a sizable four story home with natural hardwood floors. It either was constantly too tepid or constantly too cold. There simply never happened to be a middle of the ground temperature that was comfortable for all involved. So when the steamy summer season hit and all of us were drenched in the humidity and heat, all I craved was turn on the a/c, however my mom had a lock on the control unit that actually automatically set the temperatures to go on and off at certain times. It bugged myself and others so much when our home was frying in the heat wave! And when Winter came around it was just as terrible for the floors were freezing and no amount of heat that she would turn on could bring the house to temperatures that were pleasing. I looked at the control unit and I couldn’t even comprehend what she had it on. I suppose she was trying to conserve energy and efficiency costs for everyone, however it seemed so deranged to me! Well, when I finally moved out, that was absolutely the first thing I couldn’t wait to do, turn on the a/c when I was too tepid to whatever I really wanted in order to cool down and when I was cold I would be blissful in the heat that I would let run as long as I desired. The first month our very first heating bill arrived I nearly cried at the expenses it was so high. I called my mom that very moment and apologized for constantly complaining about her control unit rules and thanked her for the lessons throughout my life with regard to heating and cooling costs.
