I have had an amazing last year of school, and now I am headed to my first apartment. I love the idea of living on my own, but I know I will miss the HVAC system in my parent’s home. They have, however, told me that I need to be independent, so independence, here I am come. They have taught me some very valuable lessons, and one of them is to save money. I lived at home during my college years so I could save money. Now, here I am, two months into my new apartment, and I am debating on if it is necessary to spend more money than I have budgeted. The HVAC in the apartment has been okay until now. Throughout the day it had gotten progressively colder. When I got home, I turned the thermostat up to heat, but nothing happened. After a couple of minutes, I realized it was running, but I didn’t have very much heat coming from the air vents. I didn’t sleep a wink a night, because it was so cold. I’m thinking that I may need to budget my money for some space heaters for my apartment. I really didn’t want to have to do this. It’s not just the purchase of the space heaters, but it is also the added expense of the energy bills. I tried talking to the landlord about the HVAC problems, but he kind of shrugged. I guess he didn’t want to hear it. I suppose this is all part of becoming an adult. I just wish I could enter adulthood without worrying about my heating.
